Terms of Use
Effective November 2, 2026
These terms govern use of Harbor, the short-link service operated at this address. By creating a short link, opening one, or signing in to the admin panel, you agree to these terms and to the Data Policy.
The service
Harbor turns a long web address into a shorter one. Opening that short link shows a waiting page for 20 seconds. When the timer ends, a Get link button continues to the destination you saved. Harbor does not place an advertisement on that page. A short link can be paused or removed by the administrator, and a custom alias can be changed. Either change can stop an address that has already been shared.
Creating a link
You may create a link from the public page when that option is turned on, or from the admin panel. You are responsible for the destination you submit and for the alias you choose. Do not submit an address you are not allowed to distribute. Aliases may use letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. Some words are reserved for this site and cannot be used.
The public page may limit how many links one browser can create in an hour. Leaving the alias blank assigns a generated code.
Acceptable use
You may not use Harbor to distribute or disguise:
- malware, phishing, or credential theft
- unlawful content, or content that infringes someone else’s rights
- spam, or links sent without a lawful basis
- content that exploits minors
- attempts to disrupt this service, probe it without permission, or overload it
The administrator may refuse, pause, or delete any link, and may turn off public creation, without notice.
Visiting a short link
Opening a short link shows a waiting page for 20 seconds. The Get link button then sends you to a site operated by someone else. That destination has its own terms and its own data practices. Harbor does not control the destination and is not responsible for its content, availability, or conduct.
Opening an active short link also saves a click record, as described in the Data Policy. The record keeps the time, the referring page when the browser sends one, and a shortened user-agent string in readable form for the administrator. The connection address is stored only as a SHA-512 hash combined with a secret kept on the server. The plain address is not written down.
Accounts
The admin panel is for the operator of this installation. Keep the sign-in details private and replace the default password before anyone else can reach the panel. You are responsible for activity under that account.
Availability
The service is provided as available. Links, click records, and the admin panel may be interrupted, changed, or removed. There is no promise that a short link will keep working, that a destination will load, or that records will be kept for any particular time.
European Union
If you use this service from the European Union or the European Economic Area, the Data Policy describes how the GDPR applies to the operator of this installation. That includes the SHA-512 hash of a connection address, the records an administrator can read, and how to ask for access, correction, or deletion. These terms do not remove rights the GDPR grants.
Responsibility
To the extent the law allows, the operator of this Harbor installation is not liable for lost profits, lost data, or other indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service or from a destination a short link opens. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including duties the GDPR places on the operator.
Changes
These terms may be updated by replacing this page. The effective date at the top will change when that happens. Continuing to create or open links after an update means you accept the revised terms.
Contact
Questions about these terms go to the person or organization that operates this installation of Harbor. This page does not create a separate support desk.
